We are delighted to offer L&Q residents this excellent chance to find out more about what housing associations do, and to gain valuable work experience with one of the top associations in the country. We can offer you the chance to work as a volunteer on a placement in an L&Q office. You’ll be working alongside our talented staff and have chance to learn more about how our business operates and the services we provide. You’ll gain some really useful experience that could help you to progress to other opportunities such as taking a vocational training course or getting paid work.

What’s on offer ?
Successful applicants will be placed for a maximum of 3 months, and spend up to 25 hours a week with a local team. (Monday – Friday, 10.00am – 4.00pm with 1 hour for lunch). Placements will start in February 2009. There are a limited of placements so we need people to be able to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks and no less than 10 hours a week volunteering. We’ll reimburse costs for lunch and travel. We’ll also offer a one to one interview at the end of your placement to help you think about what you want to do next.

What are we looking for ?
Although you don’t need to have any previous work experience, we will take into account any work experience you do have when making our selection. What’s important is that you have a strong motivation to volunteer, you present yourself well, and are keen to learn and have a positive outlook, and enjoy helping others. You must have good skills in communicating both verbally and in writing, and some basic IT skills (for example Word and Excel). Previous placements have been in Tenancy Services and Human Resources teams and our Customer Contact Centre (L&Q Direct).
