Technical Support Officer (ASB)
Grade 9 – £25,940 – £28,270
Initially funded until March 2011
Are you technically minded and looking for a challenging and interesting position that is outside of the “norm”?
Do you have the enthusiasm, commitment and imagination to deliver and sustain a high quality service?
If so, we can offer you a unique and absorbing opportunity to reduce crime and disorder in Burnley!
Reducing Anti-Social Behaviour and Environmental Crime are key objectives of Burnley’s Community Safety Strategic Assessment. We strive to be at the forefront of good and innovative practice and, as a Government Respect Action Area, we are expected to achieve results. To help us do this, we secured Home Office funding in 2006 to establish a Technical Support post and this funding has been recently been extended to March 2011. In addition to the post, Burnley has invested heavily in technology and is recognised nationally at being a leader in this field.
We are looking for an imaginative and technically proficient officer to work out of our Community Safety Team in support of both Streetscene’s multi discipline Neighbourhood Management Teams and those partners within Burnley’s CDRP. The role will contribute to the strategic objectives of reducing crime and disorder within the borough and towards the delivery of a cleaner, safer, greener, Burnley.
You will be a good team worker and communicator, preferably with experience of producing and delivering training and writing successful bid documents. Previous experience of working within a technical or surveillance role within a crime reduction context is essential as is experience of working effectively within diverse communities and with external teams and organisations.
The position is also very “hands on” and the post holder will spend a considerable amount of their time in the field setting up, maintaining and monitoring equipment, often in difficult and challenging environments. It is essential that the post holder is able to lift and carry equipment and work in confined spaces, at height and on uneven or difficult terrain.
