1st Line Helpdesk Team Engineer

The Museum of London is looking for a talented, motivated and driven 1st Line Helpdesk Engineer, to work alongside three existing 3rd line roles and under the Computer Services Manager. You will be responsible for managing the day to day IT problems encountered by our c.400 users throughout the Museum of London on any of its three sites at London Wall, West India Quay or Eagle Wharf Road. You will be responsible for logging all calls to the group’s helpdesk system, and be expected to diagnose and prioritise those calls on the basis of their severity and close as many as possible. You will escalate any calls that require it and also be responsible for liaising with the user to that effect. You will attend to PCs, Servers, peripheral devices and network equipment on the three sites.

The successful candidate must have recent substantial experience in an IT/Helpdesk/user support role. You must also have experience of supporting Windows 2000/2003 Server, Windows 2000/XP Professional, the Microsoft Office suite, and MS Exchange Server 2000/2003. You will need a flexible approach to working hours and on occasion will be asked to provide on call and weekend cover. You will also be responsible for all areas of IT procurement.

Experience of McAfee Anti-Virus software management, Altiris Client Management suite, Veritas Backup Exec, Oracle RDBMS and SQL Server is desirable as is experience of supporting a joint PC/MAC based environment and knowledge of Exchequer and ArcGIS. Having any qualifications such as MCP, A+ or N+ would also be looked at favourably.
