My client are currently requiring the talents of a talented candidate with demonstrable and extensive experience within Children’s Services and the safeguarding of Children and Young people.

You will be required to make an impact and ensure they continue to build on their achievements, you’ll need considerable professional credibility. At the same time, you must share a forward-thinking approach, demonstrate excellent leadership skills and have a talent for driving improvement.

Passion, knowledge, and drive when it comes to the safeguarding of vulnerable children in our communities is key to this role. You will ideally have previous experience in a role of this nature or at a senior level within Children’s and Young Peoples Services.

This post requires a commitment of upto 5 days per month and will encompass;

• Chairing three Executive Board. This will include setting of agenda’s, approval of minutes and associated business.

• Chairing meetings of subgroup chairs.

• Formal and informal dialogue as required to follow partnership board decisions, develop safeguarding activity and response to complaints or concerns relating to the conduct of safeguarding work.

• Organising annual public ‘open meetings’ to audit progress, performance and perception of the Board’s work

• Responding to public relations issues, including making public or media statements on any matter relevant to the objectives and functions of the Board.

• Linking nationally and regionally to ensure that the partnerships activities are aligned with national policy expectations and other developing practice.

• Prepare a foreword to each annual report.

• Take a lead in the management of Serious Case Reviews.

• Oversee the development of the Executive and Operational Executive Boards and constituent sub groups.

• Meet with and assist the induction of new members of the Executive and Operational Executive Boards.

• Through the Operational Executive ensure that partner organisations are held accountable for the effective deployment of resources in relation to safeguarding activity.

• Ensure that the Board, its Operational Executive and its implementation groups comply with corporate governance arrangements and standards.

• Any other duties as may be jointly agreed from time to time as necessary and appropriate to the role.
