Part-time Local Tax Inspector

This is an opportunity to join the Council’s Local Tax Section and work as part of a team administrating the collection of both council tax and business rates. Your duties mainly include being responsible for carrying out inspections of property throughout the District, e.g. inspecting unoccupied premises, checking on-site claims for relief and discounts etc..
You will also be required to assist the team generally with routine correspondence utilising our document image processing system, and, on occasions, assist with the serving of committal summonses which may involve working outside normal office hours.
With a very flexible approach, previous office experience, you will require good communication and excellent customer care skills. Experience of working outside and using your own initiative as well as dealing with the public would also be an advantage. This post may be particularly attractive to someone in a previous enforcement role or similar.
This is a part time position working 22 hours over 3 days per week (actual days to be negotiated). Starting salary will be dependent upon skills and experience. Transport to carry out inspection duties will be provided.
