We are looking for a PINS or BTEC qualified Investigator to join our new Corporate Anti-Fraud Team and bring their experience to bear on protecting the Council’s finances – providing high quality prevention, detection and investigation of Housing & Council Tax Benefit, as well as Corporate Fraud.
This will see you working with various internal departments and external organisations to conduct investigations, prepare prosecution files, provide evidence and represent the authority at County and Criminal Court Hearings and Appeal Panel reviews. This may mean taking part in searches, interviewing witnesses and suspects, getting involved in covert surveillance operations, and advising and training staff in the prevention and detection of all kinds of fraudulent activity.
As a senior member of the team, you will also be expected to help oversee the performance and development of more junior investigators, who may be working towards their qualifications.
This role would suit someone who is PINS qualified, or holds a BTEC Professional Certificate in Investigations, and has proven post-qualification experience of investigation work in either Benefit Fraud or Corporate Fraud.
You’ll need to be a self-motivated and organised team player – someone who is able to communicate confidently and tactfully, capable of both interviewing under caution and writing clear reports. It is also important that you have a clean driving licence, have access to a vehicle for work and are prepared to work outside normal office hours.
We offer a range of benefits, which include flexible working hours and a final salary pension scheme (optional).
If you have the experience, commitment and motivation needed for this professional role, and require further information, then please contact Chrissie Harwood, Senior Enquiry Officer, on 01737 276 482.
NB You will subject to an Enhanced Criminal Records Check as part of the appointment process.
