This is an exciting opportunity to join Broxbourne, an attractive district on the northern fringe of London with excellent access to all parts of the country. The M25 lies on the Borough’s southern boundary and Stanstead Airport is a short drive away. The area has a mix of urban development and beautiful green belt countryside with a population of c.89, 000. It is a clean, tidy borough which has a low crime rate and low council tax.
The Council seeks to recruit an experienced and ambitious manager to lead the planning policy team which is currently working on the production the Borough’s Local Development Framework. The successful applicant will be guiding the formulation and implementation of planning policies within the Borough including the completion of the Core Strategy which is currently out to public consultation. This includes bringing forward a number of regeneration projects including a large shopping, leisure and housing development at Greater Brookfield and proposals associated with the 2012 Olympics events taking place within the Borough. The postholder will also play an important role in developing other corporate strategies and the community plan.
Applicants should be members of the RTPI with suitable planning experience, excellent communicators and have previous experience of managing staff dealing and with elected members. Planning inquiry experience would also be an advantage.
