This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner or project manager to lead a brand new team in our forward-thinking policy and regeneration service. You will join us at an important time in the progress of our Local Development Framework. With corporate commitment for funding and progressing the Borough’s planning policy environment, there has never been a better time – or a better chance – to make a significant positive impact on development and regeneration of the area.
Managing a team of planning and project professionals and technical officers, you will lead on a series of important Local Development Documents, including Area Action Plans, making sure they comply with national and regional policy. You will also enjoy personal responsibility for directly leading major planning policy projects. Building strong relationships, you will work closely with officers from across the Council and with Regeneration Project Managers, as well as developing and reporting on projects with senior managers and Members and liasing with representatives of the public, other local authorities and a range of public agencies.
Together with a relevant qualification, you demonstrate proven skills and experience in managing diverse teams and projects, and you have robust knowledge of policy formation – with a particular understanding of spatial planning. Calm and confident under pressure, you are a real team player, with outstanding communication and influencing skills and a passion for making better places and happier communities through your work.
