Do you have a good knowledge of issues concerning the achievement of ethnic minority pupils, particularly those with EAL? Are you genuinely committed to social inclusion and to helping all pupils achieve their full potential?
We are searching for an experienced and enthusiastic teacher to join Havering’s EMA Team. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of how language impacts on learning across the curriculum and will be able to give clear advice to schools on the use of effective teaching and learning strategies for pupils from a range of backgrounds. You will be able and willing to work across primary and secondary phases and to contribute to the provision of a targeted range of professional development opportunities for schools and teachers.
The successful candidate may already be an EMA or EAL specialist, but you could equally be a class teacher with strong practice in this area who is interested in working in an advisory capacity. A willingness to learn, a creative approach to problem-solving and the ability to use your initiative are as important as experience and qualifications as training will be given.
For an informal discussion call Michelle Wain (Acting EMA Team Leader) on 01708 433813.
