As a 21st century council, Surrey was one of the first local authorities to integrate its social care and education services for children. Our Families Directorate has the vision of providing holistic, co-ordinated services for all within local communities. These services will be responsive to the needs of children, families and schools and aim to progressively shift the balance of our work to prevention through the process of early identification and intervention.
To achieve this, we are aiming to foster a culture of collaborative working between Services for Children and Adults; work together with other Agencies in true partnership; have schools at the heart of local communities, as well as support families in their communities and enable them to remain self-reliant wherever possible.
In order to help make this vision a reality, our Children’s Service structure comprises:
• Assessment Teams (focused on short-term work);
• Children’s Teams (focused on long-term work including care planning);
• Complex Needs Teams; and
• Locality Teams (focused on working together with schools and families to support Children in Need and those with Child Protection Plans).
If you like the sound of this and share our vision, come and use your skills, knowledge and experience to work with us as a Social Worker in the Children’s Service. We have opportunities for experienced social workers at various locations across the County.
Our teams are based in Guildford town centre, Woking town centre, Spelthorne, the Reigate area and the Leatherhead area
To be eligible, you will need an appropriate social work qualification, GSCC registration, experience of working with children and young people and be able to demonstrate that you are child focused and have a knowledge of best practice and a commitment to providing the very highest standards of care.
An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure and POCA check will be required for this role.
