About us
Mid Sussex District Council serves the 131,000 people living in Mid Sussex - an area of 128 square miles in the heart of Sussex.
The Council comprises 54 councillors, elected every four years to ensure that Council services and activities meet the needs of the district.
Mid Sussex District Council provides a wide range of services and information to local residents. We are committed to making a better Mid Sussex by helping to ensure local people experience better services, a better environment and can have better lives.
The underlying aim of the work that local authorities do is to enhance all service provision to every customer and to continuously improve how we perform as an organisation. Working in collaboration with other public services as well as private sector "partners", there are significant opportunities for innovative professionals to further develop their individual skill-sets, whilst making a beneficial contribution to what the Council provides for the local community of Mid Sussex.
Mid Sussex District Council is situated in the beautiful countryside of Sussex just north of Brighton and south of Gatwick and Crawley. It has an impressive track record in providing high value quality services, as well as challenging and rewarding work opportunities. Our council-owned leisure centres are externally managed by Freedom Leisure, providing a high level of service and offering great membership rates to Council employees. Under our innovative CenSus partnership, we have forged new links with Horsham and Adur District Councils, (with the Revenues Team based at Horsham District Council, and the Benefits Team based at Mid Sussex District Council). Currently, these are within the Revenues and Benefits service areas. In total, MSDC employs just over 300 staff.
The scope of work available encompasses a varied range of professional jobs such as: town planning and environment work; community development: housing and homelessness; environmental health and sustainability; finance; accountancy & budgeting; legal and democratic services; revenues, benefits and fraud; human resources, and many more.
Mid Sussex District Council consistently strives to be ''an employer of first choice'' within the public sector and is one of the few District Councils in the South-East which has achieved Investor in People status, having been successfully reaccredited on four separate occasions. This is an award that demonstrates that we actively support, develop, recognise and value all our staff, offering equality of opportunity and challenge.
So are you up for a new challenge with a fresh, forward-thinking and caring employer, focusing on the community it serves and not distracted by profit?
