Job summary

Create, curate, and deliver modern learning that builds capability, confidence and curiosity across DBS. You’ll craft engaging in person and digital learning experiences, support managers with practical advice, and use evidence to shape what works (and stop what doesn’t). You’ll be part of the DBS Academy — helping colleagues develop skills that genuinely make a difference and protect children and vulnerable adults.

What you’ll need

  • Experience designing or delivering learning, development or capability building activities.
  • Strong consultancy skills — able to assess needs, shape solutions and influence effectively.
  • Ability to facilitate learning confidently across virtual, in person or hybrid formats.
  • Clear communicator with an evidence based, people centred approach.
  • Ability to use assistive technologies (like AI) confidently.
  • Ideally, CIPD Level 5 or equivalent relevant experience and experience with digital learning tools or learning management systems.

Job description

In this role you will:

  • Design, deliver and continuously improve learning and development activity that builds capability across DBS.
  • Work as a trusted learning consultant, partnering with managers and People colleagues to identify needs and shape practical, evidence‑based solutions.
  • Facilitate engaging learning across a mix of virtual, in‑person and hybrid formats.
  • Contribute to the DBS Academy’s curriculum, learning pathways and digital learning offer.
  • Use data, feedback and evaluation to improve learning impact and inform future decisions.
  • Champion inclusive, accessible and modern learning practice, including confident use of digital and AI‑enabled tools.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Enjoys designing and delivering learning that has a clear, practical impact.
  • Is comfortable working in a consultancy‑style way with managers and stakeholders.
  • Likes variety — balancing facilitation, design, advisory work and continuous improvement.
  • Values inclusion, accessibility and evidence‑based practice.
  • Is curious about digital learning and confident using modern tools (including AI) to work smarter.

Selection Process:

To apply for this post, please provide a CV and a suitability statement (no more than 500 words) outlining how your skills, experience and qualifications meet the requirements of the role, including all essential & desirable criteria, and the key responsibilities.

For all candidates who are successful at the initial sifting stage, you will be invited to interview.

The interview will consist of a panel-based interview and a presentation.

The first stage of the interview will be a 10 minute presentation, the presentation topic will be sent to you with your Microsoft Teams Interview invite. The presentation will assess the behaviour 'Communicating and Influencing'.

Following the presentation, there will be a panel based interview.

The aim of the panel interview will be to assess your ability to demonstrate the following behaviours:

  • Working Together
  • Leadership
  • Managing a Quality Service

There will also be 2 strength questions asked during the panel interview.

  • Interviews are due to take place week commencing 18th May.
