Are you an Accredited Financial Investigator seeking a new challenge? Or a Financial Intelligence Officer, wanting to take the next step to become an AFI?
The National Trading Standards Regional Investigtions and eCrime Team, based at City of York Council are seeking an Accredited Financial Investigator. The post is on a full time and permanent contract.
You will play a key role in high-profile regional and national criminal investigations, working collaboratively with our established team of investigators and Accredited Financial Investigators (AFIs) to tackle serious and complex offending, including large-scale breaches of trading standards legislation, fraud and money laundering.
Financial investigations are fundamental to disrupting criminal activity and securing successful prosecutions.
You will lead financial enquiries, develop and implement effective investigative strategies, and work closely with the Senior Investigating Officer to ensure financial lines of enquiry are fully integrated into the wider investigation. Using your expertise, you will help uncover the full extent of criminality, identifying offenders, tracing criminal assets and pursuing the confiscation of the proceeds of crime, helping to ensure that those who profit from criminal activity are held to account.
You will be encouraged to utilise the full range of investigative orders and powers available to support your enquiries. This will involve analysing complex financial information obtained through these powers, identifying key evidence and confidently presenting your findings in court to support criminal prosecutions.
Ideally we are seeking a candidate that is POCA Part 8 (AFI), Part 5 (civil recovery) and Part 2 (confiscation) acrredited. If you are not Part 2 (confiscation) or Part 5 (civil recovery) accredited, we would support you to obtain those accreditations.
However, we would also invite applications from suitably experienced accredited Financial Intelligence Officers (FIOs) who would like to become an AFI.
The role is hybrid, working mainly at home, but also at our Hazel Court offices in York and from time to time, on site during operational work.
The Council is committed to investing in the talent and wellbeing of our staff and can offer a generous annual leave allowance, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, comprehensive Health & Wellbeing initiatives and a reward package which recognises your contribution. We can offer flexible working practices, community engagement and volunteer activities and, as part of our commitment to you, promote continuous Learning & Development. In addition we also offer a growing range of discounts, rewards and savings.
This post is suitable as a job sharing position.
This post will be subject to a Police Vetting request.
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
