What will you be doing?

Climate change is already affecting Kent’s communities, landscapes and water environment, creating new challenges and increasing the need for long‑term, coordinated action. Our Energy & Adaptation Team supports partners across the county to prepare for these impacts and strengthen Kent’s resilience.

We are now seeking an Adaptation Pathways Project Manager to lead Kent County Council’s involvement in the Pathways2Resilience programme. In this role, you will coordinate the development of a countywide resilience strategy, an adaptation pathways action plan and an adaptation investment plan: three key deliverables that will help shape Kent’s long‑term approach to climate adaptation, particularly around water.

You will work closely with water companies, regulators, local authorities and environmental partners to co‑design adaptation pathways, and act as the Council’s main point of contact with the Pathways2Resilience consortium. The role also involves overseeing project plans, risk management and reporting, and ensuring Kent plays an active part in programme learning, workshops and capacity‑building activities.

We are looking for a proactive individual with strong project management experience, a proven ability to work collaboratively across sectors, and a detailed understanding of climate adaptation and water resource management issues. You will be confident in facilitating workshops with diverse stakeholders, managing complex deliverables and producing clear, high‑quality outputs.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to help shape Kent’s resilience to climate change, and enjoy working in a fast‑paced, collaborative and purpose‑driven environment, we’d welcome your application.

Please use the ‘reasons for applying’ section to demonstrate how your skills and experience meet the person specification.
