About the job

Salary: £25,183 - £25,992 a year pro rata
Hours per week: 37
Contract type: Secondment until 31/12/2025

This position is available as a secondment opportunity until 31/12/2025. If you are a permanent LBC employee, you must have written approval (an email will suffice) from your manager prior to applying and a copy will need to be submitted with your application. Please note: we will not be able to proceed with your application form without your manager’s permission.

You’ll be working as part of a busy, supportive team where every day is different. Your role will involve a wide range of office tasks, from preparing clear, accurate reports and spreadsheets to typing up documents and keeping our records up to date. You’ll handle phone calls and queries from colleagues and the public with confidence and care, always making sure that information is shared in line with council policy and the law.

Sometimes you’ll be working on your own, using your initiative to get things done within agreed procedures, and sometimes you’ll be collaborating closely with others to meet tight deadlines and competing priorities. You’ll need to be comfortable lifting, carrying and retrieving files, including deeds from a basement storage area, to keep our filing systems in good order.

Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.

About you

You have experience working in an office environment and you know your way around Word and Excel, using them confidently to produce well-presented documents and reports. You’re an excellent communicator who can speak and write clearly and professionally, whether you’re dealing with colleagues or members of the public.

You’re sensitive, tactful and understand the importance of following council policy and procedures. You work well under pressure, stay organised when priorities compete and have a methodical, accurate approach to every task you take on. You’re comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and you’re happy to use your initiative when needed.

This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English
