Nant-y-Parc Primary School, Senghenydd, Caerphilly

Nant-y-Parc Primary School is a successful and well-established school at the heart of the Senghenydd community. The Headteacher and Governing Body are seeking a highly motivated, friendly, and enthusiastic School Support Officer to join our dedicated team.

Anticipated start Date: Wednesday 7th January 2026 (subject to HR recruitment and Safeguarding checks), fixed term end date : Thursday 31st December 2026

This is a part-time role (50%) working: Wednesday afternoon, all day Thursday and Friday (8:15 am – 3:45 pm).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support, including data entry, filing, and record-keeping.
  • Assist in organising meetings, events, and staff schedules.
  • Handle enquiries via phone, email, and in person with professionalism and warmth.
  • Maintain and update databases and assist in preparing reports.
  • Support all members of the school community with administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of a busy front-line school office.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Put the welfare and needs of our children at the heart of all actions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of financial systems and procedures.
  • Support the school’s attendance procedures, including monitoring and follow-up.
  • Handle challenging conversations with empathy, professionalism, and discretion.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Be proactive, flexible, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing.
  • Be comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Have experience using SIMS (desirable – training provided).
  • Work well independently and as part of a supportive team.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, child-centred environment.
  • Be committed to knowing our children and supporting their needs.
  • Hold a relevant financial qualification to support the use and understanding of school financial systems.

This is a busy and rewarding role that requires professionalism, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to supporting the school community. Occasionally, you may be required to work additional hours for after-school events or meetings.
