About the Role

Moore Primary School is seeking to appoint an Administrative Officer to join our School in this vital role.

The school administrator is responsible for the smooth running of a school office and the

administrative duties which come with this post.

The school administrator will also act as the initial point of contact for parents/carers, visitors and other stakeholders, so will be an ambassador for the school and embody the value, vision and ethos of the school in all interactions.

You will be responsible for overseeing the administrative, financial, and organisational processes that keep our school running smoothly under the guidance of senior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

As a cornerstone of the school’s daily operations, your duties will include:

  1. To organise and provide responsive, flexible, effective and efficient administrative and financial business support within school. Undertake administrative tasks to support the delivery of the school. Liaise with the Headteacher, governors and school staff, as required, to support statutory timescales and requirements. Ensure confidentiality is adhered to.
  1. To liaise with staff, parents, pupils and other stakeholders, internal and external, always ensuring a courteous and professional approach. Communicating across various channels including, but not limited to, face to face, telephone, mail and electronic media.
  1. To plan and prioritise own work and support colleagues as required.
  1. To maintain, input, extract and report on, as required, information into and from various service and educational specific systems, including databases, spreadsheets, electronic case recording systems, MIS and the school website.
  1. To provide information and respond to queries from external and internal customers, and in doing so, undertake problem-solving, maintain data integrity and ensure information is managed in a secure way.
  1. To support development through making recommendations for improvement including systems and procedures.
  1. Provide support in meetings as required, including taking notes or minutes that record the meeting accurately, preparing papers, scheduling and organising.
  1. Support the school in an emergency response, as required and undertake Fire Warden duties.

What You Bring

Essential Criteria:

  • Education: 5 GCSEs (grades A–C) including English Language, or equivalent qualifications (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of qualifications).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in general administration and office duties.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel) and experience with computerised school related information systems.
  • Professionalism: The ability to communicate effectively with senior management, parents and the public, prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, and work accurately under own initiative.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Specialised Knowledge: Experience with Schools MIS computer system or working within a school finance environment.
  • Advanced Certification: RSA II Word Processing/Typing or an HNC in Business.
