Administrative Support Officer
About the job
Salary: £26,409 - £28,624 a year pro rata
Hours per week: 25.5
Contract type: Permanent
We’re looking for someone who loves keeping things organised and running smoothly behind the scenes. As a Business Support Officer, you’ll play an essential part in supporting our Adult Social Care services by providing reliable, high-quality administrative support.
You’ll help keep our teams on track by managing day-to-day office tasks, preparing and maintaining accurate records, taking clear minutes of meetings and making sure vital data is collated and recorded to monitor how we’re doing.
You’ll be using IT systems every day, so you’ll need to feel comfortable working with Word, Excel, databases and financial recording tools. You’ll liaise with team managers, frontline staff, colleagues across the department, external agencies and members of the public, so good communication is at the heart of this role. It’s a busy and varied job where your organisation skills and attention to detail will really make a difference.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About you
You bring proven experience in providing solid administrative support, and you’re confident using a range of IT systems, including Word, Excel and other Microsoft packages. You’ve handled financial administration before and you’re comfortable working with computer-based financial systems.
You have a good standard of written and spoken communication and you know how to speak to people in a professional, courteous and sensitive way, whether it’s by phone, email or in person. You’re someone who can work flexibly and stay calm when there’s a lot to juggle. You’re able to manage your time well, work on your own initiative and meet deadlines without fuss.
You know how to keep accurate records, take clear notes in meetings and handle information with care and confidentiality. You understand the importance of treating people fairly and spotting discrimination when it happens, and you know when to ask for advice if you do.
This is a public facing role so you’ll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English

Application Process
Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
On occasions, we may close a vacancy early due to a very high number of applications being received.
