About the job

Salary: £27,254– £29,540 a year
Hours per week: 37
Contract type: Permanent

This role sits at the heart of our service. You’ll provide high-quality administrative support to team managers, fieldwork staff and colleagues across the department, helping ensure our systems, records and financial processes are accurate and up to date.

You’ll use a range of IT systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and client database systems to maintain records, collate data and monitor performance and quality. A key part of your role will involve gathering and organising information, preparing reports, and ensuring data is recorded accurately to support service delivery.

You’ll take notes at meetings, prepare minutes, maintain confidential records and respond to telephone enquiries from service users, professionals and partner agencies. This means communicating clearly, gathering information sensitively and ensuring all records are complete and accurate.

Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.

About you

You’ll understand administrative procedures and have experience collating and monitoring data to support performance and quality standards. Accuracy matters to you, whether you’re inputting data, preparing reports or recording meeting minutes.

Your written and verbal communication skills will be strong. You’ll be able to liaise professionally and courteously with managers, fieldwork staff, colleagues, members of the public and external agencies. You understand the importance of confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

You’re someone who can organise your own workload, prioritise tasks effectively and work to deadlines without constant supervision. At the same time, you enjoy being part of a team and contributing positively to Adult Social Care services.

Most importantly, you bring professionalism, reliability and a commitment to supporting high-quality services for our community.

The people of Luton depend heavily on this council – and that means our workforce! Are you ready to realise the remarkable and help us deliver our vision?

Application Process

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.

On occasions, we may close a vacancy early due to a very high number of applications being received.
