We have around 1,000 dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff who put the needs of our students first, and we are now looking for an Admissions & Customer Service Officer to join our team.

About the role

The Admissions & Customer Service Officer will provide a high-quality, responsive and student-focused admissions and customer service function, supporting prospective learners from their initial enquiry through to enrolment. You will act as a first point of contact across reception, telephone, email and digital channels, ensuring applicants receive clear, accurate and impartial Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG).

The role will support the full admissions cycle, including enquiries, applications, interview arrangements, offers and enrolment preparation. You will accurately update student records, maintain data quality and work closely with curriculum, MIS, Student Records, Exams, Marketing and Student Services to provide a smooth and welcoming applicant journey.

You will also support open days, enrolment events, applicant days and outreach activity, and may be required to work across UCG campuses, including occasional evenings and weekends during peak admissions and enrolment periods.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above.
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), or be willing to achieve this within probation.
  • Have experience of working in a customer-facing role and in a busy environment with competing priorities.
  • Have experience of using IT systems or databases and handling sensitive or confidential information.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to provide clear and accurate information and guidance.
  • Have good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
  • Be friendly, professional and approachable, with a strong commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Be able to remain calm under pressure and work positively and proactively as part of a team.
  • Be willing to work flexibly across UCG campuses, including evenings and weekends when required.

Experience of Further Education, admissions, enrolment or front-line student services, and knowledge of FE courses and progression pathways, would be an advantage.
