Salary details: Grade 11 £63,900 - £66,513 (plus 8.5% shift allowance)

Hours: 42 hours per week

About the Role
The Airport Duty Manager (ADM) is the senior operational leader on duty and acts as the highest-ranking management representative on site 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The post holder is responsible for maintaining a holistic overview of all airport activities, ensuring the safe, secure, efficient and compliant operation of Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
The Airport Duty Manager will operate from the Airport Control Room and will coordinate all airport departments, stakeholders and third-party service providers, ensuring operational resilience, regulatory compliance, customer service excellence and effective incident management.
The role acts as the central point of command, control and communication for all operational matters occurring across the airport estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the senior operational decision-maker during periods of duty.
- Maintain continuous oversight of all airport operations, including airside, terminal, security, Fire & Rescue Service, engineering, facilities, ground handling and third-party activities.
- Coordinate operational responses to emerging situations affecting airport performance.
- Manage operational priorities and resource deployment during periods of disruption.
- Airport Control Room Management
- Lead and oversee the Airport Control Room function.
- Maintain situational awareness across all airport activities and operational systems.
- Ensure accurate recording of operational events, incidents and decisions.
- Coordinate communications between airport departments and external agencies.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of safety throughout the airport.
The successful Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a highly capable operational leader who acts as the senior decision-maker during their period of duty, maintaining full oversight of all airport activities and ensuring the safe, secure and efficient operation of Doncaster Sheffield Airport. They will lead the Airport Control Room function, coordinate operational responses, manage resources during periods of disruption, and ensure effective communication across all airport departments, stakeholders and external agencies.
They will demonstrate strong leadership, sound judgement and a proactive approach to safety and compliance, ensuring adherence to CAA regulations, airport procedures and certification requirements. The postholder will lead incident and emergency responses, coordinate recovery activities, and build strong relationships with airlines, contractors and service partners while promoting a culture of professionalism, operational excellence and exceptional customer service.
