Anti-Poverty Officer

Grade – Grade 6, SCP 19 to 26

Salary – £33,119 to £38,510 per annum

Contract – Full Time (37 hours per week) with the option of a job share, Fixed Term until 31st March 2028.

Location – Hastings, East Sussex / Hybrid Working

Are you passionate about reducing the impacts of poverty in Hastings and creating meaningful change to people’s lives?

Hastings Borough Council are creating a new role to lead, influence and coordinate the Council’s strategic response to poverty, ensuring a strong, whole-system approach that delivers measurable reductions in financial hardship and inequality.

The Anti-Poverty Officer will drive improved integration between key frontline services, particularly Neighbourhood Regeneration, Housing Options and Revenues and Benefits, to ensure residents receive timely, joined-up support that prevents crisis, reduces homelessness, and maximises income.

The role will combine strategic development, service improvement, and partnership working to embed poverty reduction across all Council functions, with a clear focus on prevention, early intervention, and resident outcomes.

This role has been developed at an important time and will work with partners to support the delivery of the new town wide Community-Led Anti-Poverty Plan.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
