Job description

Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) delivers a clinical service in accordance with National Health Service (NHS) Standards and Ministry of Defence (MoD) policies. You will primarily provide a friendly, efficient service to enable patients to access dental care. Arrange appointments and recalls for all entitled personnel ensuring maximum use of the clinicians’ time to meet DPHC targets for dental health. Offer administrative support for the surgeries, Senior Dental Officer (SDO) and the Practice Manager (PM). This role of Dental Receptionist is to be held by an Administrative Officer (AO) grade.

Person specification

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Initial contact with patients and ensuring the reception area is always maintained and tidy.
  • Checking-in patients and raising the necessary documentation.
  • Answering all enquiries, telephone, online and face to face.
  • Carrying out booking in and out of electronic health records, using the Information Technology (IT) supplied, in line with current policies and procedures and actioning the appropriate registers.
  • Maintaining the appointment diary, making appointments (including Hospital appointments and referrals where applicable) as requested by Dental Officers and the Dental Hygienist. Informing the Clinician concerned should it prove impossible to appoint a patient at a particularly requested time.

There will be no reimbursement for any travel expenses for the interview.
