    Job introduction

    We are looking to recruit a Level 4 Apprentice Digital Product Manager. The successful candidate will develop the relevant skills and techniques of developing digital products through working within the Systems Improvement Programme.

    As part of the team you will be supporting, and learning to eventually lead on, a range of activities designed to help the service to modernise the systems we use so that we can improve both the customer’s experience and improve things for staff too, all intended to align with the council’s Digital Customer Strategy.

    You will learn to be responsible for managing parts of different digital product life cycles with the support of more senior members of the Systems Improvement Team. You will work collaboratively with other teams and engage with a full range of product stakeholders.

    There will be many opportunities to contribute your own ideas, develop your own project management skills, and be a part of moving the service forward. You will help the team adapt their business processes to get the best out of new systems as they are implemented, and develop the monitoring needed to ensure we know what’s working and what needs renewed focus.

    Within the role, you will work with various teams within Parking Services, City Infrastructure, supporting services and IT developers so the work will be varied and interesting.

    The role will provide ample opportunities to develop all the elements required for success in obtaining your Level 4 Digital Product Manager qualification through the Apprenticeship Scheme.

    About the role

    We are the Systems Improvement Team within Parking Services at Brighton & Hove City Council. We are responsible for a range of projects intended to improve the online technology used to make parking work better for customers, and to make the service run more efficiently.

    This apprenticeship training provider is Cambridge Spark who are responsible for supporting you with your learning and carrying out assessments. Delivery will be virtual with a blend of online workshops, study groups and 121 support from a tech expert mentor and a learning success coach. Your role will be linked to the knowledge, skills and behaviours in the apprenticeship standard and once you are competent in all these areas you will take an End Pont Assessment before successfully completing. You will receive support from a nominated mentor, throughout the duration of the apprenticeship.

    The knowledge you will learn while doing the job includes product design and development, benefits realisation, communication to different stakeholders, problem solving methods, and approaches to planning and prioritising. The skills you will learn include the methodologies appropriate to developing digital products, defining user stories, and how to use various tools to manage products through their lifecycle. The behaviours you’ll learn include a professional approach to overcoming challenges, and maintaining a customer first approach to all your projects.

    You will also learn elements of AI that are incorporated into the delivery of this training.

    While learning you will also gain invaluable experience in the workplace in applying and putting this learning in practice. You will build and develop relationships with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders, and work as part of a team that is dedicated to helping the service achieve its modernisation goals, bringing benefits to the organisation and to customers throughout Brighton & Hove.

    The duration of the apprenticeship will be up to 19 months.

    Additional information


    Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
