Make a Difference in Lancaster
Join us as a Trainee Joiner and play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing Council-owned properties across Lancaster, including public buildings, markets, and cemeteries. Your work will help ensure safe, well-kept spaces that support the wellbeing of our community every day.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll learn and assist with a variety of joinery maintenance tasks under supervision, working on planned maintenance projects with the Repairs & Maintenance team. You’ll manage stock, follow strict health and safety procedures, and collaborate with colleagues and subcontractors to deliver high-quality work. Alongside practical duties, you’ll complete a college course and develop a portfolio to build your skills and career.

You’ll Fit Right In If…
You have a keen interest in the building trade and a willingness to learn and take initiative. You’re able to work independently and as part of a team, embracing our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership. A commitment to obtaining a full driving license are essential for this role. You’ll also respect our commitment to community safety and high standards of service.
