Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP) Team Manager

A rare opportunity to lead and shape our AMHP service

We have an exciting opportunity for an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Team Manager to join Adult Social Care on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a rare opportunity to lead and shape a well-resourced, experienced and stable AMHP service. We have good staff retention, so you’ll be building on strong foundations while helping the team develop and preparing the service for the future.

As AMHP Team Manager, you’ll lead our AMHP workforce and oversee the day-to-day service, making sure Mental Health Act work is safe, lawful and delivered to a high professional standard. You’ll also shape our AMHP Strategy and development pathway, supporting an experienced team that is keen to learn, grow and keep improving.

You’ll bring confident leadership, fresh ideas and a commitment to high-quality mental health social care. You’ll help us build on what already works well and work with the team to shape the next stage of the service.

The role offers hybrid working, with a base at Resource House and work across Council offices, community settings, hospitals and partner locations when needed.

We’re a small, supportive council with big ambitions. We trust our teams, work closely together and give people space to make ideas happen. In 2025, the CQC rated our adult social care services among the highest in the country, with two areas rated Outstanding and a national score of 81%. The Impower Productivity Index also ranked us as the second most productive council in England, recognising our strong performance and efficient use of public money.

Wokingham Borough Council is proud to be part of the Social Care Future movement, supporting a vision where everyone can live in a place they call home, connected to the people and activities that matter most.

By contributing to the AMHP rota you will receive an AMHP allowance (£5355 - £7000 depending on experience).
