We're looking for an Assets and Infrastructure Officer to join our Resources & Waste Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the management of operational waste assets and the aftercare of closed landfill sites, helping to ensure our facilities remain safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for the future.

What you'll be doing
As Assets and Infrastructure Officer, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day management of closed landfill aftercare operations and supervise specialist aftercare staff.
- Support the delivery of planned maintenance programmes across operational waste assets.
- Monitor environmental compliance, including landfill gas and leachate management, and liaise with regulatory bodies including the Environment Agency.
- Manage contractors, contracts and procurement activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with specifications and agreed programmes.
- Carry out site inspections, risk assessments and performance monitoring to support continuous improvement and safe service delivery.
- Prepare reports and provide technical advice to support operational and strategic decision-making.
About you
We're looking for someone who can bring a combination of technical expertise, operational experience and strong people skills.
You will ideally have:
- Experience of landfill aftercare management, including gas and leachate control and monitoring.
- Experience of managing or supervising contractors, infrastructure projects or operational sites.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, permitting requirements, health and safety standards and waste management practices.
- Strong problem-solving, organisational and contract management skills.
- Experience of budget monitoring and staff supervision.
- The ability to communicate effectively and build productive working relationships with colleagues, contractors and regulators.

This is a unique opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and environmental assets that are essential to the delivery of waste services across Derbyshire.
