As an Assistant Building Surveyor, you’ll work closely and collaboratively with the Repairs Team, regional offices, contractors, and wider Property Services colleagues to deliver a seamless, customer-focused service. With a strong foundation in building surveying and maintenance, you’ll play a key role in delivering day-to-day voids cases across your local area.

What you’ll do:

You’ll take full ownership of your assigned cases from start to finish - ensuring quality, value for money, and compliance with regulations’ while providing expert technical advice and managing contractor performance.

To succeed in this role, you’ll be required to work from the Ealing Gateway office two days per week, and you’ll need to be visible and hands-on within your local area, balancing site inspections, surveys, and case management. Flexibility to work outside of normal hours and participate in an out-of-hours rota will be part of the role as well as supporting with resident surgeries when required.

Your focus will be on getting it right the first time - offering practical, efficient, and compliant solutions that protect and enhance the homes and wellbeing of residents. You’ll use your strong organisational and IT skills to manage cases, monitor budgets, and keep all parties informed throughout the process.

Your ability to communicate clearly with customers and stakeholders will be vital, as will your proactive approach to identifying improvements and driving excellent service delivery. You’ll also be able to work independently, prioritise effectively, and deliver under pressure.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience in building surveying or building maintenance within a housing or property-related environment.
  • Knowledge of trades/repairs, including Schedule of Rates and value for money principles.
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail.
  • IT proficiency and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Relevant technical qualification (Degree, HND, or HNC) or equivalent experience is desirable

This role will require a Basic DBS check.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferable.
