Salary £33,119 - £37,563 per annum | Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week | Preston/Hybrid

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Corporate Accountant to join the finance team supporting Lancashire County Developments Limited (LCDL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Lancashire County Council.
About the Role
Working closely with the Corporate Accountant, you will support the delivery of a comprehensive finance function, helping to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information and contributing to effective financial management across the organisation.
The role offers a varied workload and will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring that deadlines are consistently met.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will:
- Be methodical, accurate and highly numerate.
- Demonstrate good analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Be able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- Have experience of undertaking account reconciliations and working with complex datasets.
- Work effectively as part of a team whilst also being capable of working independently with guidance from the Corporate Accountant.
- Be proactive and committed to continuous improvement.
- Have strong communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Have sound IT skills, including proficiency in financial management systems and Microsoft Excel skills
- Possess a recognised accounting qualification (or be actively studying towards one) and/or have relevant finance experience that demonstrates the required skills and knowledge
Desirable Experience
- Experience of pre-billing validation activities would be advantageous.

Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.
If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
