In this role you will:
- Provide advice on planning applications, listed building consents, and enforcement cases affecting heritage and archaeological assets.
- Undertake site visits, review photographic surveys, heritage statements and desk-based assessments to support both conservation and archaeological work.
- Support the coordination of archaeological input into planning processes, including consultation responses, and interpretation of archaeological reports results, and advice for the general public.
- Assist in the preparation of conservation area appraisals, local heritage lists, and heritage policy documents.
- Contribute to public engagement, exhibitions, and heritage-led regeneration initiatives.
About you
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree (or working towards one) in archaeology, heritage management, architectural history, or a related field.
- Understanding of UK heritage and planning legislation, including the NPPF and relevant Acts.
- Strong administrative, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
Although not essential, you may also have:
- Experience in a local authority or planning consultancy.
- Familiarity with Worcestershire’s archaeological and historic landscape.
- Experience in archaeological fieldwork.
- Skills in QGIS, ArcGIS, HER systems, or planning software (e.g. MasterGov, Idox, DEF).
- Membership or eligibility for IHBC, CIfA, or a similar professional body.
