Develop your cyber expertise as you work to protect the UK from security threats

As an Associate Cyber Responder within our collaborative and supportive team, you will use a range of tools and approaches as you assist with investigating and recovery from cyber security incidents that occur in our organisation – these could involve applications, servers, storage and laptops. Helping to conduct tests and checks to monitor compliance with incident response and recovery plans, we will also expect you to analyse security breaches and recommend solutions to mitigate against similar incidents occurring in the future. Providing high quality technical security advice to colleagues and customers, you will also explain the likely business impact of vulnerabilities and make recommendations that will reduce their effect.

You will have a range of additional responsibilities – these include contributing to the development of the strategies and policies that protect FCDO Services and our customers against security threats, and providing advice and consultancy on the security aspects of projects our organisation is working on. Assessing the potential impact of tests to be deployed and escalating when risks are posed to the performance of live systems, you will also be committed to maintaining your professional development in line with emerging technologies and best practice. You will also be expected to participate in the team’s 24/7 on-call service, supporting the investigation and remediation of security issues as they arise.

Build your career as you help us achieve our important global mission

To be a success in this important role you should have well developed experience of resolving technical problems in an IT setting, an NVQ Level 3 in IT or Cyber Security or equivalent hands-on experience, and a natural aptitude for and interest in all aspects of IT and IT security. A highly effective, confident and collaborative team player, the skills to use a variety of tools to manipulate date would be desirable. In addition, the ability to produce clear and concise technical documentation would be a bonus.

You will be working in a fast-paced environment, and as this is a role where there will be plenty of opportunities to develop your career, you should possess the drive and ambition to take on more responsibilities and progress within our organisation.

Please be aware that we can only accept applications for this role from British citizens with sole nationality – we cannot accept applications from dual or foreign nationals.
