The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced administration and support officer to join our Heritage and Design Team. The Heritage and Design Team are responsible for all aspects of delivering significant heritage projects including the restoration of Birnbeck Pier. The wider team consist of specialists responsible for archaeology, built conservation, heritage records and urban design.
The post holder will sit within the Heritage & Design Team in the Healthy & Sustainable Communities Directorate and will report to the Heritage & Design
Team Manager. They will also work closely with the other members of the Heritage & Design Team and other officers from within North Somerset Council (NSC).
In this role, you will carry out a range of activities to support the Birnbeck Project.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Administer purchase orders and payments
- Maintain financial records
- Produce the financial information required for grant claims and other project reporting, including producing monitoring reports
- Provide administrative support to the Birnbeck Project Board and other governance structures
- Provide general administrative support for the Heritage & Design team. Prepare updates for elected Members, and contribute to the preparation of reports to NSC Executive and Full Council as required

Work Style

This role falls into the category of Flexible Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:
- 2-3 days in the office
- Works both from home and the office, depending on the task at hand.
- Training is provided to help balance work-life and manage time effectively, with an emphasis on communication for team touchpoints and planning in-office days for collaboration.
About You
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about heritage and project management, and who possesses the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria:
- Administration and finance experience
- Confident in the use of spreadsheets and other financial or project management systems
- Ability to present information clearly and confidently
- Good team player
- Ability to work without close supervision and recognise professional boundaries to seek advice when appropriate.
- Experience of project support
- Confident in the use of MS Office
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in the Heritage sector

Salary range
