You’ll join an experienced Blue Badge team where you’ll use your judgement, attention to detail and customer service skills to review applications and supporting evidence. The Blue Badge Assessor role offers the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge of the Blue Badge scheme, relevant legislation and complex casework, while contributing to the delivery of an important statutory service for Derby residents.
What you’ll be doing

• Review information provided by applicants and identify when further evidence or clarification is needed before reaching a decision.
• Communicate with applicants by telephone, email, letter and, where required, face-to-face, providing clear information about their application and the Blue Badge process.
• Explain eligibility criteria and decisions clearly and sensitively, including when supporting vulnerable, distressed or dissatisfied customers.
• Maintain accurate and secure application records, handling confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Use judgement to resolve routine issues and identify cases that require further review or escalation.
• Respond to customer enquiries and assist with the resolution of straightforward complaints relating to Blue Badge applications.
• Process associated correspondence and payments accurately and in accordance with required procedures.
About you
• Experience of administrative work involving applications, casework or a similar process where information needs to be reviewed and recorded accurately.
• Experience of providing good customer service through telephone, email, written and face-to-face communication.
• The ability to review information, apply established criteria and procedures, and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
• Strong attention to detail, with experience of maintaining accurate records and handling confidential or sensitive information.
• Clear and sensitive communication skills, including the ability to deal professionally with vulnerable, distressed or challenging customers.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage your workload, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and database or case-management systems.
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent, in English and Maths, together with an IT qualification or equivalent demonstrable IT experience.
