Bridging Outreach Worker
As a Bridging Outreach Worker, you will support people experiencing homelessness or at risk of, who have substance use needs through assertive, trauma‑informed outreach. The role focuses on improving engagement with treatment, reducing rough sleeping and homelessness linked to substance use, and supporting positive recovery outcomes.
You will hold a caseload and build trusted relationships to deliver pre‑treatment, motivational and harm‑reduction interventions. The role involves working across the county and closely with drug and alcohol services, housing, health services and partner agencies, contributing to multi-agency working and coordinated risk management alongside the Rough Sleeper Outreach Team. You will also support outreach activity delivered through the RESET outreach van, helping to take services and engagement opportunities directly into communities.
We’re looking for someone who can build positive, trusting relationships with people facing complex challenges. You’ll bring a compassionate and supportive approach, feel confident working independently as well as alongside others, and be comfortable using trauma informed and reflective practice. Experience in homelessness, substance use, mental health or similar support settings would be welcomed.
This role involves working collaboratively with partner organisations, being flexible across the county (including occasional evenings and weekends), and sharing our commitment to safeguarding, harm reduction and person-centred support.
We would love to get to know you more so please email us if you would like to discuss this role or our team. You can contact us on hayley.thomas.brown@shropshire.gov.uk or daniel.jeffreys@shropshire.gov.uk
