    Brokerage Assistant - Grade 4 - £31611- £33987pa 12 Month Secondment/Fixed Term Opportunity

    • Provision of an integrated financial administrative and management service for Children’s Services, entailing accurate, timely and robust budget management support, ensuring all systems and advice complies with the Council’s financial framework and policy.
    • Reconcile service based systems to the Council’s general ledger system.
    • Process payments to providers, suppliers, clients and members of staff efficiently through the appropriate systems on a timely basis so that payments are made on time to ensure continuation of services.
    • Provide financial management information and advice to budget holders in respect of budget management, setting monitoring.
    • Support the Children’s Finance Officers/Brokerage Officers with the tasks relating to the management of the Children’s Service procurement cards.
    • Collate data and provide accurate management information with regard to service grants and liaise with external funding bodies where appropriate and necessary to do so.
    • Work across areas as required to support the range of budgets in this demand led area, so that continuation of service is facilitated and there are no single pints of failure.
    • Monitor inboxes and service requests ensuring that these are picked up and dealt with as soon as practicable.
    • Develop an understanding of Children’s services so that the support from a finance perspective is well informed with regard to service risks.
    • Work with a wide range of cost centre managers and colleagues for the fulfilment of the tasks associated with this role.
    • Ensure an understanding of financial principles and standards and advise the service accordingly.
    • Ensure accuracy of all budget monitoring activity and that an audit trial is in place for all payments and budget activity, in line with financial frameworks.
    • Ensure segregation of duties and correct authorisation process for all transactions that are processed by the post holder.
    • Contribute to revision of systems and process to make this as streamlined and efficient as possible.
