Caerphilly County Borough Council is seeking to recruit a Building Control Surveyor to assist in the delivery of its Building Control function and enforcement of the Building Regulations.

The post is a full-time permanent position. The successful candidate will proactively manage a complex Building Control caseload with minimal supervision, along with having responsibility for dealing with dangerous structures.

Applicants require at least three years’ experience working as a Building Control Surveyor or be working towards becoming a Building Control Surveyor, via a trainee/apprenticeship post along with a relevant Level 4/5 or Level 6 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework. For example, relevant Level 4 or Level 5 Public Service Building Control Surveying Diploma or Degree (Level 6) in a construction related subject. Applicants must also be Registered as a Class 2 or 3 Building Inspector.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Regulations and supporting Approved Documents.
  • The ability to work precisely and effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business/work purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit sites and attend meetings.
