West Berkshire Council is seeking a Building Safety Levy & Contributions Officer to join our Developer Contributions Team. The role
As a Building Safety Levy & Contributions Officer, you will play a key role in implementing, developing and managing the new Building Safety Levy while supporting wider developer contribution functions.
You will:
• Work with developers, agents, solicitors and building control providers.
• Monitor housing developments and infrastructure contributions.
• Issue notices, invoices and correspondence.
• Maintain accurate records and databases.
• Provide advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders.
• Support compliance monitoring and auditing activities.
• Assist with reporting, analysis and service improvement projects.
This is a fixed term role (Funding limited project) until 31/03/2028
We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate the full number of hours advertised above. We may however consider offering less hours than advertised providing they meet the requirements of the role and service which will be determined by the recruiting manager.
The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
Essential
• GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above.
• Good organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital systems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A positive and professional approach to customer service.
• The ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines.
• A willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Desirable:
• A-Levels.
• Experience in planning and/or local government.
• Knowledge of planning or building control processes.
• Experience working with databases or specialist software

- You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service. (Pro rata for FTC)
