Make a Real Difference Where It Matters Most

At Hightown, building safety isn’t just about legislation, it’s about people’s homes, their wellbeing, and their peace of mind. Every day, the work we do helps residents feel safe, valued and heard.

We are looking for an experienced Building Safety Manager to take ownership of this critical area at a time when it has never mattered more. This is a high-impact role where you will shape how building safety is delivered, strengthen trust with residents, and help ensure we stay ahead of an evolving regulatory landscape.

If you are passionate about doing things properly, not just compliantly and want to work somewhere where your expertise will genuinely make a difference, we would love to hear from you.

    What You Will Be Doing

This is a visible, influential role where your expertise will directly support safer homes and stronger communities.

    You will:

    • Lead building safety across our higher-risk homes, ensuring compliance is robust, visible, and proactive
    • Own and develop the Golden Thread and Safety Case Reports, making sure information is accurate, accessible and ready for scrutiny
    • Drive a culture of early intervention and risk management, identifying and resolving issues before they escalate
    • Oversee inspections, contractors and remedial works, ensuring high standards and timely delivery
    • Build trusted relationships with residents, communicating complex safety information in a clear, reassuring and respectful way
    • Work collaboratively across Repairs, Housing, Compliance, Development and Asset teams to embed a consistent, joined-up approach
    • Influence continuous improvement, ensuring Hightown remains at the forefront of best practice and regulatory compliance

    Why This Role Stands Out

    • You will have real ownership and influence over building safety strategy and delivery
    • Your work will have a direct and tangible impact on residents’ lives
    • You will join a supportive, values-driven organisation where collaboration matters
    • You will be part of a team that takes professionalism and resident care equally seriously

    What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines technical confidence with strong interpersonal skills. someone who can balance regulation with empathy, detail with communication.

    You will bring:

    • Strong technical expertise in building safety, higher-risk residential buildings (HRRBs), compliance, or Safety Case development
    • A confident but approachable communication style, able to make complex information easy to understand
    • A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to build strong working relationships
    • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
    • A proactive, organised approach with strong risk awareness
    • A genuine commitment to resident safety, inclusion and respect

    Qualifications:

    • Health & Safety or Fire Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, Fire Management)
    • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH, RICS, CIOB, RIBA, CIBSE, IFSM)
    • CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management (or willingness to work towards it)
    • Full Driving Licence

The ideal person for this role will have worked within a housing association and understand the balance between regulatory expectations and resident experience and how important it is to get both right.

    Why Join Hightown?

    We offer:

    • Professional development and sector-relevant training opportunities
    • 33 days’ annual leave including Bank Holidays (pro-rata)
    • Competitive salary of £57,186 for a 35-hour week
