
Building Surveyor - Residential
Ashford Borough Council is seeking a proactive and technically proficient Residential Building Surveyor to join our Planned Maintenance Team.
You will be responsible for inspecting occupied residential properties, diagnosing defects, and managing refurbishment and improvement works from inception to completion, along with:
Conducting detailed inspections of ABC housing stock and provide expert analysis of building defects and risks.
Preparing specifications, tender documents, and managing procurement processes for planned maintenance projects.
Administering contracts, issue instructions, managing budgets, and overseeing remedial works during defect periods.
Submitting Planning and Building Control applications.
Managing a variety of building works including disabled adaptations and damage-related repairs.
Monitoring contractor performance, ensuring quality, value for money, and customer satisfaction.
Promoting tenant engagement and contributing to continuous service improvement.
This is a dynamic role requiring expertise in building pathology, contract administration, procurement, and statutory compliance so it is essential that you have Minimum experience in residential refurbishment and improvement, along with having:
HNC/HND in Building Studies or significant relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
Proven project management and contract administration skills.
Microsoft Office proficiency and confident in dealing with contractors, tenants, and agencies.
As part of this role you will need to be able to access all areas of residential properties throughout the borough of Ashford so you will need a full UK Driving Licence.
