About the role
As a Business Support Apprentice you will report to the Business Support Officers to provide administrative support to the front-line Neighbourhoods Service.
As an apprentice, you’ll be part of our wider improvement journey, with the opportunity to see how we secure funding, transform services through digital change, and oversee projects across Neighbourhoods. These activities are managed by the team, but you’ll be supported to learn from them, build confidence and gradually take on tasks that help your development. As well as being responsible for aspects of administrative support to front line officers including finance, general admin, emails, service support etc.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working, positive individual who is self-motivated and able to work using their own initiative as well as being a team player.
The successful candidate will be committed to providing an excellent service, in a fast-paced team and be willing to learn and develop their knowledge.
The apprenticeship qualification and learning expectations
During your apprenticeship you will be working towards the nationally recognised Business Administrator, Level 3 qualification at Redcar College. You will attend College, in person, for one day every two weeks to study towards your qualification, and you will be given study time in work for new learning opportunities and time to complete research and assignments. This is equivalent to 6 hours per week learning (1 day per week) and 4 days per week on the job. Typical office and college hours are 8.30 am to 5.00 pm.

Apprenticeship opportunities are open to anyone over the age of 16 years old with no upper age limit. Apprenticeships are designed for ‘new’ learning and ‘new’ work experiences. Eligibility checks will be undertaken with the College to look at your prior qualifications and experience as part of the recruitment process, therefore please include as much information as possible.

You will need to have a minimum of:
Aged 16–18:
If you do not already hold GCSE Grade C / Level 4 (or Functional Skills Level 2) in English and maths, you must complete these as a mandatory part of the apprenticeship. This means that on top of the above days in college, you would be assigned additional day sin college to complete these qualifications if you do not already have them.
Aged 19+:
If you do not already hold these qualifications, completing English and/or maths may be optional depending on the apprenticeship, but you may be required or supported to work towards them if the role needs it.
