Business Administration Apprentice – Waste and Recycling Team

We’re looking for a motivated and organised individual to join our team as a Business Administration Apprentice.

About the role

This is a varied and rewarding role, where you will play an important part in supporting the team to deliver and improve front-line services in waste and recycling for residents. You will provide administrative support in the development and digitalisation of services, help plan and attend recycling roadshows and events, work closely with other teams across the council, and develop an in-depth understanding of waste & recycling services.

Day to day duties

Day-to-day duties may include administrative tasks such as managing emails, calls, meetings, and maintaining digital systems and records. Alternatively, you could be pulling together posters, social media communications, and other materials to support recycling events in schools or speaking directly with residents about recycling. You will also attend roadshows at public events where we speak with the general public about good waste and recycling habits, this could be in schools, at council led events and festivals to having a stall and speaking with shoppers in supermarkets.

The successful candidate will have a good standard of general education and be keen to develop within the administration area. Previous work experience speaking with customers or working in administrative would be advantageous but is not essential.

About the Apprenticeship

You will be studying towards a Business Administration Level 3 qualification at Redcar and Cleveland College. Your working pattern will be 5 days a week, 37 hours per week at your place of work, with one day per fortnight day release at college. If you complete your Functional Skills Level 2 English or Maths alongside the qualification, this will incur additional time at college and would be discussed on an individual basis.

Please note, if you hold a qualification similar to Business Administration already, you may be subject to additional eligibility checks, because Apprenticeships are ‘new’ learning opportunities.
