The Role
We’re recruiting for Business Analysts to join Legal Aid Agency Digital and to be part of our exciting digital transformation programme of work. This is a great opportunity to join one of our warm and collaborative multidisciplinary agile teams and become part of our established business analyst community. LAA Digital sits within the wider Justice Digital organisation, comprising over 100 Business Analysts.
This role aligns against Business Analyst from the Government Digital and Data Framework

Key Responsibilities:
As a Business Analyst, you will:
- Undertake analysis to understand how a business area works, considering the people, organisation, processes, information, data and technology
- Identify and elaborate user and business needs to enable effective design, development and business change
- Ensure new products and services meet business and user needs, and are aligned with organisational goals
- Understand any business and policy constraints that need to be considered, and assess the implications
- Collaborate on prioritisation to agree minimum viable product and sprint features
- Identify areas for improvement, explore feasible options, analyse the effects of change and define success measures
- Take ownership for improving your own knowledge of business analysis and agile principles, methods and tools and play an active role within the BA community in sharing knowledge and mentoring others.

Person Specification
Essential criteria
- Business Analysis Experience. You have proven experience recently working as a business analyst within the public and/or private sector.
- Defining and managing business needs, user needs and requirements. You can elicit, analyse, challenge and validate business and user needs. You can define relevant artefacts, such as problem statements, epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements, and facilitate prioritisation with minimal supervision.
- Context, problem and option analysis. You can apply critical thinking and take different approaches to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate problems and opportunities. Able to apply logic to break down problems, identify and assess options and make recommendations to meet business and user needs.
- Digital and data systems analysis. You can analyse complex systems to identify gaps in functionality and future functional needs along with their impact. You enjoy working with data and appreciate the importance and value that data has to an organisation. You are keen to use your skills to model and define the business's data requirements, ensuring that data domains are clearly articulated.
- Business Modelling. You can select appropriate business modelling techniques to support analysis, decision making and stakeholder understanding. You can create models and diagrams that represent the organisation, processes, relationships, information and interactions.
- Stakeholder management. You can communicate in a straightforward, honest and engaging manner, choosing appropriate styles to maximise understanding and impact. You can summarise complex information and make it understandable for a range of audiences. You can build relationships with stakeholders and use evidence to support both decision-making and consensus-building.
- Business process improvement. You can research, understand and document current business processes, using a range of visual and analytical tools. You can look in detail at a process to determine strengths and weaknesses and identify opportunities improvement.
