Job description

As a Junior Business Analyst, you will receive support from more Senior Business Analysts and be responsible for the output. You will have a limited toolset, will work with others or under supervision, and support stakeholder relationship management.

Key Responsibilities:

Agile Working

• Have experience of working in agile, including an awareness of agile tools and how to use them

• Can advise colleagues on how and why agile methods are used and be able to provide a clear, open and transparent framework in which teams can deliver

• Adapt, reflect and be resilient

• Have the ability to see outside of the process

• Able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes

Business Analysis

• Know how to investigate operational needs or problems and assist in the recommendation of service improvement and business solutions

• Can contribute to recommendations to improve services and understand the importance of evidence-based design or analysis

• Responsible for investigative work into problems and opportunities in existing and new services

Business Modelling

• Can model simple areas using established techniques and understand the purpose of this and its importance.

• Can assist in complex modelling if required.

Business Process Testing

• Can model simple areas using established techniques and understand the purpose of this and its importance.

• Can assist in complex modelling if required.

Digital Perspective

• Are responsive to changes in technology, adapting your approach accordingly

• Can make decisions to meet user needs in the government context

• Understand the importance of assisted digital and can design services and make decisions to meet users’ needs

Enterprise and Business Architecture

• Are aware of the target operating model. Innovation

• Know about innovation and what it involves.

Methods and tools

• Have an understanding of the use of methods and tools.

Requirements Definition and Management

• Know about tools and techniques for determining requirements.

• Can talk about the objectives of the business.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

• Know who your stakeholders are, what evidence is relevant to them and the importance of managing relationships with them.

• Influences stakeholders and manages relationships effectively.

Testing (business analysis)

• Can execute test scripts under supervision.

• Understand the role of testing and how it works in systems development.

User Focus

• Have an awareness or understanding of user experience analysis and its principles.

• Can see the purpose of user stories and focus on user needs.

Other duties

• The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.
