Job Description

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a talented Business Intelligence Analyst to join its Resources & Innovation Directorate within the Digital, Data and Customer Experience Division. This pivotal role places evidence at the heart of decision-making, supporting Directors and managers with high-quality performance and management information to drive service improvement and better outcomes for residents. Working as part of a dynamic Business Intelligence Team, you will provide expertise in data collection, collation, analysis and interpretation, ensuring insights are presented in clear, accessible formats for a range of audiences. You will contribute to strategic planning, performance management and research projects, spotting emerging trends and supporting data quality across the organisation. About You

The Successful Candidate Will Have:

  • Excellent advanced ICT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Power BI, SQL, SPSS or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience working with large databases in a data management or handling role.
  • High-level communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience in research involving data handling, analysis, and interpretation.
  • A clear understanding of the diverse nature of Harrow’s communities and the implications for strategy and performance development.
  • Experience working with Local Authority or similar data to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, gained through a relevant qualification or significant practical experience.
  • Understanding of how data is stored in large computer systems and the use of reporting tools to extract and analyse data.
  • Familiarity with balanced scorecards or other recognised approaches to managing performance.
  • Knowledge of how contextual information can be used by the Council and residents to inform decisions.
  • Awareness of local government services and organisational structures.
