The delivery of Project Blacklight - a new, highly motivated team to the NCA, supporting a top priority for the Agency. You will work to deliver the objective set out by the Director General to deliver on a best practice for the whole Agency in managing evidence and hard copy records. As a Project Blacklight Business Support Officer, you will be supporting a busy and collaborative team who deliver a suite of core support services to operational delivery colleagues including: assisting with the delivery of Project Blacklight; providing front-line services and equipment; and, supporting the department in achieving the NCA’s business objectives and transforming our capabilities. This is a new and varied role that will see the successful candidate engaging with the full spectrum of NCA business areas. Although demanding, this post requires someone who can offer excellent customer service delivery and balances the requirements of customers and the reputation of the Agency.

Job description

The role remit of a Project Blacklight Business Support Officer includes responsibility for the oversight of logistics and storage of assets (hard-copy records, exhibits, bulk seized items) via the appropriate facility. You will lead the Agency's standards for effective and quality cataloguing of assets in order to facilitate the creation of a searchable corporate record for all hard copy records and exhibits across the NCA. A crucial aspect of the role consists of providing a compliance oversight function, producing valuable management insight to determine whether standards are in line with set expectations of the Agency. The role has also recently assumed responsibility for embedding effective processes around the management of various assets across the Agency. The role requires assistance with the co-ordination of front-line organisational services and equipment, such as stationery facilitation, postal services and General Purpose Vehicle management.

  • This role requires onsite attendance at the Warrington Office and cannot be offered on a hybrid basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and Review Processes - Work closely with Line Management to review, create and improve processes and systems for Project Blacklight.
  • Second Line Assurance - Conduct Second Line Assurance of all crates put into the secure store.
  • Cataloguing - Search, review and catalogue data in line with new systems as part of Project Blacklight.
  • Records Management - Ensure the process around preparation for secure storage is standardised dependent on material being held and that review, retention and disposal periods are employed in a timely manner.
  • Quality Assurance - Ensure quality management of cataloguing within relevant documentation.
  • Administrative - Review Agency holdings at the secure store for retention and/or disposal.
  • Building Effective Working Relationships - Establishing and maintaining effective and professional working practices with internal and external partners/stakeholders.
  • Working Together - Liaise with the entire range of NCA Teams, providing support with their current and legacy crates.
  • Internal Audit - Conduct physical reviews across all NCA sites to allow the Agency to fully understand and test the recorded status/confirmed location of material stored within the secure store provision.
  • Organisational Services - Assist with the co-ordination of front-line organisational services and equipment, such as stationery facilitation, postal services and General Purpose Vehicle management.
  • Respond to Queries - Monitor inboxes and telephone queries received, responding appropriately providing advice and escalate if required.
  • Professional Development - Develop as an Officer and complete training associated with the role.

  • IT Skills - Ability to confidently work with Microsoft Office, Excel as well as learn other applications and programmes as required.

Benefits

New entrants to the NCA receive 26 days annual leave, rising to 31 on completion of 5 years continuous service, plus 8 bank holidays.

If qualifying criteria is met new joiners from UK Police Forces or the UK Intelligence Community (UKIC) will have service with those employers taken into account for continuous service purposes for annual leave entitlement only, this will be up to a maximum of 31 days leave (including 1 privilege day).
