We are looking for a Business Support Officer to join our friendly and supportive Highways & Civil Engineering Team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of services that help keep Stockton-on-Tees moving, safe and well maintained for residents, businesses and visitors.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide a wide range of administrative, financial and customer support functions that contribute to the successful delivery of highways, transport and infrastructure services across the Borough.

No two days are the same in this varied and rewarding role. You'll work closely with technical and operational colleagues, helping to ensure services run smoothly while delivering excellent support to both internal and external customers.

What you'll be doing

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing comprehensive administrative support to the Highways & Civil Engineering Team.
  • Raising purchase orders, processing invoices and supporting financial monitoring activities.
  • Requesting, collating and monitoring information from internal and external partners.
  • Responding to customer enquiries, service requests and complaints, ensuring timely and professional responses.
  • Monitoring customer feedback and helping identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Supporting the effective delivery of projects and services across the team.

  • Is confident working with data, spreadsheets and information systems.
  • Can communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
