Our Business Support Service is looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, and organised individual who can ensure that a high level of administrative support is provided to our departments.

Our Business Support Service is a centralised unit which has been formed to deliver a co-ordinated, consistent, and high-quality service supporting service delivery across the organisation. Business Support is critical to ensuring our departments can support services to our residents, and if you have great administrative skills and a strong customer focus, you could be part of it.

You’ll be working as part of the central Business Support Service with more than 400 colleagues, and you’ll be supporting our departments to ensure they are able to deliver critical services to the residents of Hertfordshire.

About the role

The role is primarily based in Watford and Rickmansworth, with occasional travel to other stations in the west of the county, as well as to Stevenage for training and meetings. Working hours can be distributed across the week, with some flexibility for remote working subject to business needs

Your role will be key in supporting operational staff and ensuring the smooth running of the station. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the continued supply of PPE
  • Entering overtime claims in a timely manner
  • Overseeing station budgets and purchasing requirements
  • Liaising with members of the public to arrange community fire safety events and bespoke home fire safety visits

About you

Essential:

  • You will be used to working to tight deadlines and with high accuracy in written correspondence.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
  • Strong communication skill abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Packages, Word, Excel.
  • Experience in working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan own work over short timescales for routine or familiar tasks and processes and use your initiative to work independently.
  • GCSE or Vocational equivalent, strong numeracy, and literacy skills.
  • Enthusiasm and pride in your work are qualities we welcome.

Desirable:

  • Experience in minute or note taking
    • Proven experience in an administrative or support role
