The Business Support Officer role provides is a varied role working as part of a team of business support staff supporting out Services for Young People Teams who work with vulnerable young people to address emerging needs & improve life chances, the role provides a full range of reception / front of house, administrative and general office duties to support the full offer to young people.

Our Business Support Service is a centralised unit which has been formed to deliver a co-ordinated, consistent, and high-quality service supporting service delivery across the organisation. Business Support is critical to ensuring our departments can support services to our residents, and if you have great administrative skills and a strong customer focus, you could be part of it.

You’ll be working as part of the central Business Support Service with more than 400 colleagues, and you’ll be supporting our departments to ensure they are able to deliver critical services to the residents of Hertfordshire.

Business Support Officer SfYP St Albans & Dacorum

We are looking for Business Support officer to work as part of a team of business support staff providing administration and business support to the Services for Young People Teams who are the primary provider of youth work, career education information advice guidance and work-related learning in Hertfordshire who work with vulnerable young people to address emerging needs, improve life chances, and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services. This includes supporting those challenged in education, their community or home life, to ensure a successful transition to adulthood. The young people we work with are typically 11-17 and 18 to 25 if they are Care Leavers or have SEND.

The role is varied and who provide a full range of reception / front of house, administrative and general office duties to support the full offer to young people at our Young People’s Centres based in the St Albans and Dacorum areas.

The role is primarily office based and will require the ability to travel across several HCC sites in the St Albans & Dacorum area.

About you

Essential:

  • Proven experience in an administrative or support role
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a range of audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
  • Experience in working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan own work over short timescales for routine or familiar tasks and processes and use your initiative to work independently.
  • GCSE or Vocational equivalent, strong numeracy, and literacy skills
  • Enthusiasm and pride in your work are qualities we welcome.

Desirable:

  • You will be used to working to tight deadlines and with high accuracy in written correspondence. Experience in taking notes would be beneficial,
