Career Grade Property Surveyor

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a background in property to join our asset and property management team, initially at junior surveyor level. This career grade post provides the opportunity to progress to qualified property surveyor level, following completion of the accreditation process of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the attainment of associate membership, or corporate membership of the RICS. You will be committed to personal and professional development and this role is an opportunity to further develop your professional skills in a busy property environment.

City of York Council have a diverse property portfolio, which provides an annual income in excess of £7m and includes assets such as The Shambles, business centres, retail and industrial property.

Based in our award winning centrally located modern offices in York, this is an opportunity to work in a historic city.

We offer flexible working, both home and office based, and 25 days holiday (rising to 30 days after 5 years).

This role is suitable as a job share opportunity.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express themselves spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
