Caretaker

Ackworth Howard CofE School is seeking a reliable, practical and proactive Caretaker to oversee the day-to-day care, maintenance and security of our school premises.

Working closely with the School Business Manager, the successful candidate will help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming school environment, whilst leading and supporting our cleaning team.

• Is practical, organised, dependable and able to work independently.
• Has relevant maintenance or caretaking skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Can lead and support a team to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Understands health and safety, site security and safe working practices.
• Takes pride in their work and is committed to safeguarding children.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Opening, securing and maintaining the school buildings and grounds.
• Undertaking routine maintenance, minor repairs and site safety checks.
• Supervising and working alongside the cleaning team, organising routines and monitoring standards.
• Managing cleaning supplies, equipment and safe working practices.
• Liaising with contractors and supporting the effective running of the premises.
